~8 week old chicks meeting the flock for the first time
Our take
Introducing the newest members of the flock can be both egg-citing and a bit nerve-wracking! At around eight weeks old, your fluffy chicks are ready to meet the seasoned residents of your chicken run. To ease this feathered introduction, building a divider is a cluck-tastic idea. It allows both groups to get familiar with one another without the risk of fowl play! As the older hens strut about, your little ones can watch and learn from a safe distance, gaining confidence while avoiding any potential pecking. This gradual introduction not only fosters a sense of community but also helps your chicks feel more comfortable in their new home. So, let's get ready for some delightful interactions and a harmonious flock life!

- This is our first time with chickens!Meet the girls. We have no idea what we're doing. We consulted a few chicken experts so the girls have food, clean water, warmth, are living in the garage, and we are in-process of building a coop. We are in coastal NC and are having a 6ft fence put in to help deter predators in the future. We are building a heavily reinforced coop so the coyotes and foxes (and raccoons) can't dig under. I just wanted to share that this is our first time and we are a little nervous. Our kids keep kissing them so I'm sure they're going to have salmonella or something now (the kids - not the chickens). submitted by /u/NakDisNut [link] [comments]

- Chickies first day outsideIt’s between 63-69 today and the chicks are mostly feathered (except one.. he’s got less feathers than the rest but I think he’s ok) I’ve put them in the dog kennel in the big chickens run. Not a lot of room for them in there but I really want to make sure they get to spend time outside, and this is the safest way for me to do so. submitted by /u/Much_Tap4920 [link] [comments]
