Day 300 of drawing one chicken per day

Our take

Hey, feathered friends! Today marks Day 300 of my whimsical journey of drawing one chicken each day, and I thought it might cluck-tastically resonate with this group! My kids, ages 6 and 4, were feeling pretty frustrated with their own drawing skills, and I totally get it—I hung up my drawing hat about 25 years ago, thanks to similar feelings and some less-than-encouraging words from my parents. But then, inspiration struck as I watched our chickens frolicking in the coop. I encouraged my kids to keep creating, while I committed to drawing a chicken daily. They surprise me every morning with their excitement as they check my drawing journal, gifted to me for my birthday. Here’s a couple of my chicken creations! 🐔✨

Thought I'd share since it might be appreciated in this group. My kids (6 and 4) got increasingly frustrated with their drawing abilities. I told them I gave up drawing probably 25 odd years ago because of the same frustration (and being told by my parents I wasn't any good). Seeing our chickens outside in the coop, I told them, you keep drawing, I'll start drawing one chicken per day. First I left a little A6 on their breakfast table (I leave for work before they get up) then for my Birthday they gave me my very first drawing journal which they inspect every day.

Here's a couple of my chickens per day 😁
