Fly high love
Our take

| A few weeks ago my girl Kiki died at the age of seven. I think I haven’t fully realised yet. She was such a sweet and cuddly hen yet she was more stubborn than any chicken I’ve met before. I have so many memories of her and I’m sad there won’t be more. My earliest memories of her are from the time when I only had her for a week and the vet told us she probably won’t survive the cold she had. She did. And three years later she survived an infection in her laying tract even though no one really believed she would pull through. She always wanted to live. She was stubborn enough to tell death to fuck off twice. She loved being around humans. Loved coming inside the house and stand in front of the fridge until someone payed her the cheese tax. When she didn’t get enough attention the would bite angles. I loved her being around. I miss her so much and it hurts. Toni (the hen in the last picture) misses her too. She is so clingy and follows us around all the time since Kiki died. I really hope Kiki was greeted in heaven the way she deserved it (with lots of cheese and scrambled eggs) and maybe she’ll keep an eye on Toni from up above. [link] [comments] |

- I miss my dead hen :(I miss my baby girl soy sauce. She died a couple months ago because my brother thought she was in the coop when she wasnt. She was the sweetest chicken ever. She would take naps on me, she loved snuggles, she would talk to you, and she was so so nice. She was at the bottom of the pecking order, so my rooster didn't round her up like he does with the others. Something attacked them during the day, and she sat under the tree, injured at night. At 1 in the morning a raccoon got her. I didn't watch any more of the camera footage because my heart couldn't handle it. It was one of those sadnesses where your chest hurts because of it. My dog stayed with her until we called her inside, and tried pawing at her to get her to move. I feel so horrible for how she died. I miss her snuggles and her so much.fly high baby girl ❤️ submitted by /u/CareerFluffy5416 [link] [comments]
- My little friend crossed the rainbow bridgeMy little friend Gigi crossed the rainbow bridge this morning. 🌈 I adopted her and her flock sister Midge during lockdown (that they helped in getting through). She was a very sweet and pretty hen that enjoyed getting into potted plants like they were her private spa. She was a tad skittish but unlike her flock mate Midge, that has a bit of aggressive streak, she was always friendly and would tolerate the occasional cuddle. Some say that chickens are incapable of learning their names but she definitely knew hers and would come running when I called her name. - One of my chickens passed suddenly yesterday and I’m still processing it.We were out of town and our house sitter called to break the news. I never had chickens before. My wife grew up on a farm and last summer talked me into getting two of them. They’ve been together since last July. We came back home today cleaned out the coop. Got it ready again for penny. The remaining chicken. Right now I’m devastated seeing her roam the yard alone. She seems to be ok. Still eating and drinking but I’m anticipating her to pass away soon too. Didn’t really have a question. Just new to this chicken life and I’m heartbroken that penny is all alone. Especially seeing her enter her coop tonight by herself. Rest easy twizzy. Miss you. submitted by /u/jcdulos [link] [comments]
- Lost my first chick todayFirst time chicken owner. Got 10 little chickies on Wednesday and all were doing great. Yesterday morning one started not feeling very good. We tried electrolytes, egg yolk, and tried feeding wet starter grain. Nothing was making any changes. I cuddled her last night for a while and put her back in the brooder knowing she wouldn’t make it. Buried her out by their future coop this morning. Only knew this chick for less than 48 hours but why am I crying so much? I hope she felt loved and safe before she passed. submitted by /u/Gravitys_Bitch [link] [comments]
