- Update: Chicken still sick, can’t walk or stand. She can perchMy poor Pickles went to the vet, laid an egg, (I thought she was egg bound), she’s been getting around the clock care in quarantine, but she still can’t walk, she can perch on a dowel, but that’s it. She is eating at least one scrambled egg a day, not really drinking but if I string water over her beak she drinks. Her poops looked normal this morning, yesterday they were mixed, some normal, some watery. It’s been 6 days of this. WTH?? This is her little set up. - Need advice: sick chickenFirst picture is yesterday: She was weak, with her eyes closed shut, panting. Gave her electrolytes and vitamins with water via syringe and Ticon S. Second picture is yesterday night: I thought she would pass on her sleep, but she stopped panting and actually started making sounds and slept through the night while repositioning her neck and moving away from the fan that was near her to keep her from panting. Third is today: She’s still fighting, I can feel she’s tired but she moves her head and has stood up to reposition. No eyes opening yet, but she hasn’t had anything to eat today or drink. I tried tempting her to drink with droplets and on her beak but that didn’t work. I’m thinking on doing subcutaneous fluids, not sure yet. Any recommendations? I have no avian vet near me. - Help diagnosing sick chicken!Hi there, I found some green droppings that have been in my chicken coop for the last two days. I found out today who it was as the poor girl is puffing up a lot and is lethargic. I started her out with an Epsom salt bath while I did some research. I observed her crop was quite hard and started to massage the area while I put her into a brooder for some isolation. It did seem like I helped some stuff move along since her crop is no longer hard, and she has since had some more green droppings but is still puffed up. I am not so sure she has sour crop after all if she is able to pass droppings? .I am not sure what to do at this point but am concerned she is in trouble - any help would be much appreciated! - I need helpHi everyone, I’m looking for some advice on one of my hens. She’s a female, just about a year old, and recently I’ve noticed she’s not looking as well as the rest of my flock. Her comb is a bit darker than the others, and there seems to be some mild swelling in her face along with small speckles on it. Behavior-wise, she’s definitely off. She tends to stay away from the roosters and avoids any related interactions, sits puffed up in the corner a lot, and isn’t very active. When I come near, she runs to me, tries to hide, and wants to be picked up constantly. She just doesn’t seem like she’s thriving the way she used to. She is still showing interest in food and water and appears to be eating and drinking normally. For context: • The rest of the flock appears completely healthy • No signs of mites or lice • I recently treated the flock for coccidiosis (another hen had it) • I’ve checked her feathers and vent thoroughly and didn’t find anything abnormal initially. (more on this later in the post.) • I also recently had another hen isolated for a possible respiratory infection and wry neck I’d appreciate any guidance possible. She’s quite special to me. And I will do whatever I can to help her. Please help. Recent update….. I isolated her from the flock and started her on some basic vitamins, vitamin E B12 and selenium as well as antibiotics. She’s on day 5 and today a few days ago I noticed she was pulling feathers out on her side upon further inspection. This is what the irritated area looks like…. I have since put a makeshift onesie on her out of a sock to keep her from accessing the area. But she doesn’t seem to be getting any better.
