I fear my chicks may be dumb.
Our take
We've all been there—watching our feathered friends and questioning their intelligence, especially when they seem to gather in a pile on a warm day. As my chicks approach the eight-week mark, they've been enjoying the sunshine and fresh air in their run. However, on this particularly warm spring day in the Midwest, I caught a glimpse of them all huddled together, and I couldn't help but think, “Surely, they can't be cold!” To my surprise, they were panting from the heat! A little intervention was needed, so I stepped in to disperse the flock, and just like that, their panting ceased. Sometimes, I wonder if my chicks are just a bit clueless—or maybe they're simply embracing their quirky chicken ways!
My chicks are nearing 8 weeks and have been enjoying outside time everyday that has been warm enough. Today is a particularly warm spring day in the Midwest and they have been outside in their run happily doing chicken things. I happened to look over and see them all in a pile in the middle of the run and thought there is no way they are cold. Nope, they were all panting and hot. I went in and dispersed them and they all immediately stopped panting 🙄

- Chickies first day outsideIt’s between 63-69 today and the chicks are mostly feathered (except one.. he’s got less feathers than the rest but I think he’s ok) I’ve put them in the dog kennel in the big chickens run. Not a lot of room for them in there but I really want to make sure they get to spend time outside, and this is the safest way for me to do so. submitted by /u/Much_Tap4920 [link] [comments]
- Our chickens came knocking…Let me start off: chickens have a coop with small run and a big run. They are learning to go “ inside” The coop and not just the small coop run. We first wanted to have them free roam the entree back yard but ours kids were too much for them, hence the run Today its the 4th night and we didnt see the time so they were still in the night run instead of the actual night coop (theres a shelterd Place in there they looooove) Suddenly i hear chicken peckjng the Windows and see 4 out of 5 chickens in the backyard window. In laughing my ass off. One was a good girl in the night coop chilling and the other 5 were like.. snacks? They destroyed every plant in the garden ( expected) Luckily our garden is 100% safe of theres no kids lol. Started a small thunder storm shortly after so thats probably why. Heres one chicken knocking on the window… submitted by /u/reddead24f [link] [comments]
