Injured chicken
Our take
Hey there, fellow chicken enthusiasts! It sounds like you're facing quite the cluck-tastrophe with your feathered friend! First off, kudos for being attentive to her needs—she's lucky to have you on her team! Given that she was initially immobile and now seems to be moving around, it’s possible she may have a sprain or some other foot issue rather than a break. If she’s still eating, drinking, and responsive, that's a good sign! However, since you’re new to this chicken-wrangling business, it’s essential to keep a close eye on her behavior. Consider consulting a vet who specializes in poultry for a professional opinion. Hang in there, and don’t hesitate to reach out to the community for support!

| Hey guys, I have a chicken that has been injured for about 3 days now. Im new to all this so idk what im doing. At first I thought she was eggbound bc she wasn’t moving around at all. A day later she finally got up and started moving around and noticed she can’t put pressure on her left foot. I picked her up and moved her leg around it wasn’t floppy at all so I don’t think it’s broken. Could it be her foot? She’s eating and drinking, responsive. Please help [link] [comments] |

- Help with leg injury - video but not disturbing.I got this hen from a local woman who couldn’t care for her. I’d like to try my best to rehabilitate her. She said she came home and the hen appeared to have a broken leg it was all sprawled out. She had her for a week and a half injured before I got her. I believe she’d been laying on the ground for that time and could not stand even on her seemingly non-injured leg. In this video she has no wrap or splint and she keeps both her legs way up to her chest and when she is on the ground they stick out in front of her. She has open wounds on her elbow joints where she was laying like that. I now have her in this harness 24/7 to keep her off her legs and have makeshift splints to keep her legs stretched out. I’m wondering if anyone has had a chicken do this and what might have helped? I’m really hoping she can make it through and walk again she’s so stinking sweet. submitted by /u/CarefulLifeguard7647 [link] [comments]
- Update on sick chickenSo a couple days ago I made a post about my chicken being possibly sick but I wasn’t sure. So far she’s still alive and she’s pretty alert. She eats mushes poultry feed and drinks water, but she can’t walk. She also has a tough time trying to balance, like I notice we have to put her in a certain position for her to stay upright. When she tries to adjust herself, she uses her beak to kind of drag herself, if that makes sense? She still goes to the bathroom but she’s always sleepy. I don’t know why she can’t walk yet, I felt her legs and they are still warm. When we try to get her to walk she just cries and tips foward. It breaks my heart seeing her like this. Can somebody please help me find out what’s wrong with her? I’m trying to help her the best I can but I’m not sure how else to help her. My parents don’t know either and they kind of gave up on her but I haven’t. Please help! Ask me any questions and I’ll answer to the best of my ability. submitted by /u/Frosty-Drive3282 [link] [comments]
- What is wrong with my chicken?Any ideas? Hard to get a video. She’s standing so weird. She was limping a couple days ago but I didn’t think much about it. No bubble foot or mites. She’s happy and lets me hold her and manipulate her legs/wings with no issues… she’s eating and drinking and has consistently been laying-even today.
