My girl passed...
Our take
Losing a beloved pet is never easy, and the heartache can feel overwhelming. Today, we mourn the passing of Soup, a beautiful chicken who brought joy and laughter to her owner’s life since she was just a chick. Rescued from college, Soup was more than just a feathered friend; she was a cherished companion who filled her owner’s heart with love. Despite a recent battle with parasites and a hopeful return to her crowing self, Soup’s health took a sudden turn. A rushed visit to the vet ended in heartbreak when she didn't make it through. Soup, you were deeply loved and will forever be remembered as the vibrant and quirky spirit who left a lasting mark on your owner’s life.

| Had my beautiful chicken "Soup" since she was a chick, kidnapped from my college. She woul've been 2 years this year. Took her to the vet because I saw her down and discovered some parasites, they treated her and made a checkup appointment for monday. Yesterday she was all right, not as active as usual but at least she was back to crowing, I tought she was getting better. Today I saw her down so I rushed back to the vet, but could'nt help me, the doctor was helping another animal. Waited until they let us in, but she didnt made it. Soup, I loved you with all my heart, you are my beautiful girl. [link] [comments] |

- I miss my dead hen :(I miss my baby girl soy sauce. She died a couple months ago because my brother thought she was in the coop when she wasnt. She was the sweetest chicken ever. She would take naps on me, she loved snuggles, she would talk to you, and she was so so nice. She was at the bottom of the pecking order, so my rooster didn't round her up like he does with the others. Something attacked them during the day, and she sat under the tree, injured at night. At 1 in the morning a raccoon got her. I didn't watch any more of the camera footage because my heart couldn't handle it. It was one of those sadnesses where your chest hurts because of it. My dog stayed with her until we called her inside, and tried pawing at her to get her to move. I feel so horrible for how she died. I miss her snuggles and her so much.fly high baby girl ❤️ submitted by /u/CareerFluffy5416 [link] [comments]
- Lost my favorite chicken. Rest in Peace, Noot Noot. Her name is silly, but I bonded with this little chicken over winter when I had to bring her in due to health issues. She was having seizures and needed to be somewhere where she wouldn't keep hitting her head and breaking feathers. She stopped having them finally, but yesterday I came home on my lunch break to find her walking around with a prolapsed vent. She had an egg too big for her body, and it was stuck. Nothing was getting it out. All the remedies failed us, and she started seizing again from the stress. I had to make the call yesterday and have a family member put her out of her misery, and I feel so low today. I know to many people, chickens are just farm animals. I've already been told by my parents to toughen up because that's farm life. I'm not phased by losing other chickens that are mean or that I'm neutral towards, but I really loved this little bird. She got comfy inside over winter and started following my poodles around. She purrs and loves scritches. She would beg to sit on the couch with me and then sleep while I gamed. Even after rejoining her flock, she ran to me every time I stepped outside. To anyone else who has lost chickens or other small pets they bonded with and really cared for, they weren't just a chicken. Weren't just a pet. That was our little friend, and their absence is heartbreaking. submitted by /u/strawbeebop [link] [comments]
- My last remaining girl enjoyed her sun time ☀️ chicken loafunfortunately another one of my hens passed last month, I was very devastated as I've lost two hens who were my favourite. now it's just this one, who was the bullied hen! She is loving being alone. I was worried but she is so much happier now and it shows, of course I always go up every day and sit with her so I can take the role of being watch whilst she sits in the sun. obviously I always health check her and keep her entertained, but she is absolutely loving being alone so I'm going to keep it like that for awhile. we are hopefully going to get three new girls in a couple months too, a different breed since ISA browns have so many health issues, and she's 3 now, and is enjoying her retirement from egg laying. rip my past two girls who got me through my GCSEs and first year of college, they have been buried with some flowers and I'm going to display their feathers I got above my bed! (yes I made sure to bury them properly!) submitted by /u/-Sky_Lux- [link] [comments]
- Lost my first chick todayFirst time chicken owner. Got 10 little chickies on Wednesday and all were doing great. Yesterday morning one started not feeling very good. We tried electrolytes, egg yolk, and tried feeding wet starter grain. Nothing was making any changes. I cuddled her last night for a while and put her back in the brooder knowing she wouldn’t make it. Buried her out by their future coop this morning. Only knew this chick for less than 48 hours but why am I crying so much? I hope she felt loved and safe before she passed. submitted by /u/Gravitys_Bitch [link] [comments]
