In the whimsical world of chicken-keeping, every feathered friend comes with its own quirks and mysteries. The recent Reddit post by user /u/Tiger248 highlights a particularly puzzling case: a chicken that walks with a low back end but otherwise appears to get along just fine. This situation is far from uncommon; many chicken enthusiasts have faced head-scratching scenarios that leave them reaching for their proverbial chicken manuals and scratching their heads instead. The heart of the issue presented by Tiger248 revolves around a chicken that seems to have an unexplained condition, leading to a unique way of moving. While the initial suspicion was heart failure, the absence of contagion among the other 40 chickens provides a glimmer of hope. Itâs a reminder of the unpredictability of chicken health â something we can all relate to, whether we're seasoned flock keepers or just chicken enthusiasts who find ourselves chuckling at the antics of our birds. This girlâs behavior could be tied to several factors, from nutritional deficiencies to minor injuries. However, while seeking help, it's important to remember that not all situations have clear-cut answers. | I posted a few months back about this girl here: https://www.reddit.com/r/chickens/s/GnjPwFb9Nb and I just cant figure out whats going on with her. She walks with her back end low to the ground, but otherwise gets along and gets around just fine. It's nothing contagious because my 40 other chickens are perfectly fine. I thought it was heart failure and attempted to drain her belly with no luck. Im at a loss here, any clues? [link] [comments] |

- Help! Something is wrong with one of my little ladies:(Hello, Iâll start by saying Iâm a noob and have no idea what to do. Thanks in advance for any help. So a couple days ago we noticed one of my favorite little chickens was standing kinda funny. Over the past day or so her walk is definitely different and she seems like sheâs having trouble getting around. Sheâs almost straight up when she walks and just doesnât seem very coordinated or able to do her normal chicken stuff. Anybody know what this is? I want her to be ok so any advice helps. Her feathers look less smooth than normal and she isnât walking, if i pick her up and set her down, she will maybe walk two steps and slowly sits down again. Shes been eating and drinking but not moving well, tail down, and looking hot consistently. I did recently move and brought her and two other chickens but shes the only one that doesnât look healthy and normal. Shes been resilient for such a long time that now that shes looking weak im worried im racing the clock against something i cant even diagnose in time. submitted by /u/graveyardfairies [link] [comments]
- Update on sick chickenSo a couple days ago I made a post about my chicken being possibly sick but I wasnât sure. So far sheâs still alive and sheâs pretty alert. She eats mushes poultry feed and drinks water, but she canât walk. She also has a tough time trying to balance, like I notice we have to put her in a certain position for her to stay upright. When she tries to adjust herself, she uses her beak to kind of drag herself, if that makes sense? She still goes to the bathroom but sheâs always sleepy. I donât know why she canât walk yet, I felt her legs and they are still warm. When we try to get her to walk she just cries and tips foward. It breaks my heart seeing her like this. Can somebody please help me find out whatâs wrong with her? Iâm trying to help her the best I can but Iâm not sure how else to help her. My parents donât know either and they kind of gave up on her but I havenât. Please help! Ask me any questions and Iâll answer to the best of my ability. submitted by /u/Frosty-Drive3282 [link] [comments]
