Stretching and shaking head, not sure what to do
Our take
Oh dear, it sounds like your feathered friend is putting on quite the show! When chickens stretch their heads and shake, it can be a curious behavior that raises eyebrows—and perhaps a bit of worry. This quirky act might indicate she’s just trying to get comfortable or shake off some pesky feather fluff. However, if she's been at it for a few minutes and seems a bit off, you might want to keep an eye on her. Sometimes, chickens can get something stuck in their throat or even experience a moment of disorientation. If she returns to her usual scratching and clucking, it’s likely nothing to fear. But if the behavior continues, a little check-up might be egg-citingly in order!

| One of our chickens is stretching her head and shaking. any idea what this means? We’re worried something is stuck. She’s about 3 years old. Seems to be stopping, doing this for a couple minutes then back to scratching around. [link] [comments] |

- Help! Something is wrong with one of my little ladies:(Hello, I’ll start by saying I’m a noob and have no idea what to do. Thanks in advance for any help. So a couple days ago we noticed one of my favorite little chickens was standing kinda funny. Over the past day or so her walk is definitely different and she seems like she’s having trouble getting around. She’s almost straight up when she walks and just doesn’t seem very coordinated or able to do her normal chicken stuff. Anybody know what this is? I want her to be ok so any advice helps. - 11 week old pullet acting strangeHello! First time chicken owner. One of my pullets is acting odd. She’s a naked neck and normally one of the more skittish of my crew. Yesterday, i noticed that she was drawn into herself and a little puffed up. I didn’t notice anything blocking her vent. She’s not running around like she normally does. I was thinking she was constipated last night because i noticed her almost straining, but then she pooped. I’m really worried about her and wanted to see if anyone has seen something like this? Any recs? I’m going to find a vet who can take a look, but thought I’d also ask here while i call around. submitted by /u/Ambitious_Housing689 [link] [comments]
