Yea right!!😤

There's something beautiful about holding a warm, fuzzy chick in your hands and feeling the universe click into place. And then there's the fine print, the little warning card from Tractor Supply that says, essentially, "This love story might end in tears." The image that user *SaeveraRivers* shared shows exactly that: a stern, laminated caution about the risks of cuddling poultry. And their response? A defiant "yea right," followed by a kissy face and a promise that no amount of fear-mongering will pry those feathery snuggles from their arms.

We get it. We really, really get it. Anyone who has ever scooped up a hen and felt her settle into the crook of an elbow knows the pull. That trust, the way a chicken closes its eyes and leans into your chest, is a tiny miracle. And yes, we also know the risks: salmonella, stress to the bird, the occasional sharp beak to the eyeball. But the warning card isn't wrong. It's just… boring. It talks at you, not with you. It assumes you'll be scared off by a list of dangers, as if love were a rational decision. User SaeveraRivers is living proof that love is never rational, and we respect that.

What this really means for the rest of us is permission to stop pretending we're "responsible" chicken owners every second of the day. Responsible means you know the risks and take reasonable precautions, washing hands, keeping a clean coop, not sneezing into the nesting box. But it does not mean you stop enjoying the very thing that made you want chickens in the first place. If the only way to be safe is to treat your flock like livestock and nothing else, then you're missing the point. Chickens are full of personality, and snuggling them is part of the joy. It's the fowl play that keeps us coming back.

If a reader came to us and asked, "Should I snuggle my chickens?" we'd say this: Don't let a laminated card write your love story. Know the risks, wash your hands, and don't let a chicken sleep in your bed. But if you want to sit in the grass and let a hen nap on your lap, do it. That's the whole reason we have feathered friends instead of, say, a spreadsheet. The warning is there for the people who need it. You, clearly, are not one of them. Go get those snuggles. Cluck that card.
