Why does this chick look like it’s cosplaying an emu?
Our take
Have you ever looked at a chick and thought, “Is that an emu in disguise?” That’s exactly what one perplexed chicken enthusiast, u/Powerful-Elephant-42, is wondering about their five-week-old olive egger pullet. Unlike its fellow feathered friends, this little one seems to have skipped the typical chick look, sporting a unique appearance that raises more questions than answers. Initially suspected of being bullied by their RIR mix companions, the little one’s featherless state has prompted further speculation. Could it be a case of emu cosplay, an early sign of being a cockerel, or even a phase that will soon pass? Join the conversation to unravel this cluck-tastic mystery and share your thoughts on this quirky chick!

| Was supposed to be an olive egger pullet, does not look like my other OE chicks at all 😅 about 5 weeks old. At first I thought they were being bullied (hence the lack of feathers, and the other chicks are RIR mixes which I know can be jerks) but I actually haven’t seen anyone picking on them. Emu? Cockerel? Mange? Just a phase? [link] [comments] |
