Do you actually follow care label instructions or just wing it?

I've been trying to build a better wardrobe with nicer peices and I'm realizing I have no idea how to properly take care of any of it. Like I spent actual money on these things and then I just... throw them all in the washing machine together and hope for the best?

I tried reading the care labels but half of them are just those little symbols that I don't understand. The triangle with an X through it? The square with a circle inside? I end up googling "what does laundry symbol mean" every single time and then immediately forget.

The worst part is when someone else does the laundry. My boyfriend has good intentions but he doesn't know my silk blouse needs to be hand washed or that my new wool coat is dry clean only. And honestly I don't remember half of it either.

How do you all handle this? Do you have some kind of system for keeping track of what needs what? Or do you just wash everything on cold and pray lol. Starting to think I need like a spreadsheet for my clothes which feels ridiculous but here we are
