Monthly capsule wardrobe?

I am trying to work through my wardrobe and actually enjoy my clothes. I seem to forget what I have and I want to see what I actually like wearing, and where the possible gaps are in my wardrobe, as I seem to constantly look for something new.

I have tried to organise a capsule as if I’m packing for a long weekend, and then building around it, adding more pieces. I also want to pick out hosiery, and accessories, bags, shoes.

How many garments sounds right for a monthly capsule? Does anyone have any other inspirations on building temporary wardrobes like this?

For example:

- Colours and a contrast. For example beige and creme, with olive or red contrasts.

- Fabrics focuses like linen and seersucker combined with denim.

- A specific inspiration or style, for example Japanese summer style with lots of flowy linen, or Ivy League autumn with tweed and wool.

Generally I find it hard to pack for holidays and events and just end up bringing random things.

I’d love to have a few outfits put together for a few different events too, to avoid overthinking and trying on my whole wardrobe! Does anyone else do this?
