Cairo to Luxor, travel method advice?

I’m travelling from the UK to Cairo in April with a few friends. Originally we were planning to hire a car and drive from Cairo to Luxor ourselves, but after looking into it more we’re reconsidering.

The other options we’re thinking about are:

Taking a go bus from Cairo to Luxor, or flying from Cairo Airport with either EgyptAir or Cairo Air

For anyone who’s done this route recently, what would you recommend in terms of safety, reliability, and overall experience?

Is the drive worth it, or is it just easier to fly? Would love to hear from people who’ve actually done the journey.
