A Midsummer Knit’s Dream

A Midsummer Knit’s Dream
A Midsummer Knit’s Dream

First really hot day of April, so I treated this as a bit of an early test run for where I want spring and summer to go.

Last year I leaned pretty heavily on shirts, so this felt like one of my first real attempts at building around a knit top instead. With no layers to rely on, I wanted the silhouette and proportions to do the work. The high-rise pleated trousers help elongate the legs, and paired with the lightly tucked polo, they create more of that V-shaped line I’m always after.

What makes it work for me is the texture. It’s a simple combination, but the contrast between the knit polo and the smoother white trousers keeps it from feeling flat. I also kept the palette tight with navy, white, and dark brown - very much in line with the more restrained, Italian/Velasca approach I’ve been drawn to lately. The Johnny collar is a small detail, but one that makes this feel noticeably different from the shirt-heavy looks I wore most of last season.

I really like how this one turned out! Hope ya’ll like it :)

• Top: Spier & Mackay linen Johnny collar knit polo • Pants: Le 31 white cotton pleated chinos (Simons) • Belt: Gap dark brown braided belt • Shoes: Mango Men suede penny loafers • Fragrance: Dior Sauvage
