Fluffing Up the Flock: Breed Picks After a Feathered Heartbreak

Oh, a feathered heartbreak and a flock in flux, we feel this one deep in our chicken-keeping souls. Seven years in, and you're staring down an empty spot where two Australorps used to be, all while a Polish crested who's outlived her entire original crew clucks on defiantly. That's some serious flock resilience right there. And then there's the barred rock who decided to play fowl games with the senior hen. Classic. For Gulf Coast heat, you need birds that won't melt into a puddle of feathers by noon. We're thinking breeds that handle humidity like champs and keep the pecking order civil.
