befriending

I bribed a raven with egg bits and she became my hawk deterrent

I bribed a raven with egg bits and she became my hawk deterrent. Don't worry, I just give her a tiny bit of egg in the morning so she still has to hunt for herself. It's been six months, and she'll finally take it from my hand. But she and her mate have chased off multiple hawks. That's a pretty good return on investment for a few egg scraps, if you ask me. There's something wonderfully mad about befriending a wild bird to do your dirty work, especially when your feathered friends need protection from bigger, meaner feathered friends.
