Bare Bottom Blues: Is Your Rooster the Real Feather Fiend?

Well, feather loss at the base of the tail is a classic head-scratcher, and I totally get why you're pointing a feather at the roosters. It's the easy suspect, right? But honestly, you might be letting the fellas off the hook a little too easily. "Overuse" is a real thing, but it usually looks more like bald patches on the backs of their heads, not a tidy little strip right above the tail. That specific spot? That's often a molt or even a bit of feather pecking from the ladies themselves. The good news? Since you rehomed one of the roosters, you're already on top of the most likely stressor. Give it a few weeks and keep an eye out for new quills.
