Goodbye, sweet girl. Our beloved bantam, the friendliest soul in the flock and the favorite of the roos, was taken from us too soon at just one year old, a victim of a predator attack on April 2. As spring blossoms with new life, it also brings the quiet endings that remind us of the delicate balance of nature. Our gentle bantam was a soft presence, and her absence leaves a noticeable void. This loss is felt deeply because we loved her fiercely. As I close out my first year as a chicken owner, losing my first hen hits especially hard.
