head feathers

This ancient bird's fancy feathered feet are my new obsession

Those booted little drumsticks are honestly the fanciest thing I've seen in the coop all year. There's something wonderfully absurd about a bird strutting around with built-in feather trousers, and I'm totally here for the obsession. That head crest doesn't hurt either, it's like nature decided to give chickens a little extra drama just for fun. I get it completely; some breeds just hit different in the adorable department. If you're new to the fancy-feather fandom, you might also enjoy our piece on "That tiny feather is giving me all the feels: and the heebie-jeebies," because apparently we're all a little chicken-crazy together. Cluck-tastic stuff, honestly.
