Is that chicken dandruff normal or a sign of fowl play

Oh, the eternal question: is that chicken dandruff, or is something more sinister afoot? First off, welcome to the wonderfully weird world of indoor chicken keeping, where the dust bunnies have feathers. A little flaky debris during preening is totally normal, think of it as your feathered friends shedding dead skin cells, just like we do. Their construction sand baths are actually a great choice for helping them keep clean, but if the flakes look excessive or you spot any irritated skin, it might be time for a closer look.
