pumpkin carving

Is pumpkin carving just fowl play or a cluck-tastic treat for your flock

So, has anyone actually tried giving their flock a carved pumpkin, or is this just fowl play waiting to happen? I'm genuinely curious because the idea is either egg-citing or a recipe for disaster. My feathered friends already side-eye me when I bring out the kitchen scraps. I can only imagine the chaos if I presented them with a grinning, glowing gourd. Does it work? Do they peck at it, ignore it, or plot their revenge? I'm leaning toward trying it, mostly because I love the mental image of a chicken cautiously approaching a jack-o'-lantern.
