scab

My feathered friend's bumblefoot won't heal and I'm totally chickening out

Oh, bumblefoot, the gift that keeps on giving, and not in a cluck-tastic way. If your feathered friend's foot is getting big and gross despite all that cleaning and wrapping, and bleeding every time you pick at the scab, it's time to stop playing chicken with this. That's not just a stubborn scab, that's an infection that's winning. You need a vet, stat. Home care can only go so far when the foot itself is swelling up. They might need to lance it properly or even start antibiotics. Don't feel bad about chickening out on this one; sometimes we need backup.
