soft crop

Soft crop got you chickening out? Let's troubleshoot your feisty old hen

Ah, the soft crop conundrum, a classic chicken keeper's headache that's equal parts frustrating and weirdly fascinating. Your feisty old hen sounds like a real character, still bossing around the little roo while secretly harboring a squishy secret. Good news: no smell usually means it's not sour crop, so you can breathe a little easier. But a soft crop that lingers? That's a sign something's off, maybe she's not emptying properly, or age is playing tricks on her digestion. Try gently massaging her crop and offering some grit or a little yogurt to get things moving. If she's still eating and acting tough, she's got fight left.
