Our new chick's legs are doing the splits: help us diagnose splay leg
Oh, the drama of tiny chicken legs! Our newest little featherball hatched last night and is doing a rather unflattering impression of a yoga instructor, legs splayed out like it's trying to win a limbo contest against itself. It can shuffle around using its wings as crutches, which is both impressive and concerning. Those poor little legs have some bruising and a cut at the joints too. Is this dreaded splay leg? The chick is bright-eyed and active, but clearly struggling. First, take a deep breath, you're not alone in this fowl predicament.
