This Chick's Feet Are Ruffling More Than Feathers

A one-month-old Onagadori chick with swollen feet, red lesions, and a case of the head-scratches? That's enough to make any chicken keeper's heart do the fowl pogo. I love my feathered friends, but when something's off, the worry is real. The good news? Your little one is still eating, drinking, and strutting around, which is a cluck-tastic sign. The yellowish spots and slow swelling are curious, though. Allergies to hay are possible, but so are a few other things like mites or a bacterial infection. You're not alone in this egg-ucational journey. If you're looking for more reassurance on quirky chick quirks, our piece on the Silkie sounding like a tiny trumpet might just ruffle your feathers in the best way.
