Help! My Chick's New Feathers Are Just Bare Stems: What's the Cluck?

Oh, the naked stem feather situation, it's enough to make any chicken parent cluck in panic. Your 3-to-4-week-old chick losing wing feathers and growing back what looks like bare quills is actually a classic sign of a rough molt or, more likely, a nutritional hiccup. Protein is great, but feather development also craves specific amino acids like methionine and lysine. A good game bird starter or a bit of fish meal can help fill that gap. Before you start second-guessing every snack you've offered, remember this is common, and fixable.
