Chick with a 3rd leg.
Our take
Howdy all! So, here’s a cluck-tastic conundrum: I’ve got a chick with a third leg growing out of her backside! I didn’t notice until I got her home and checked each one individually. To my surprise, she had bad pasty butt and another malformed leg! Now I’m in a bit of a pickle—should I take her back to the store, cull her, or let her live? She seemed social at first, but now she’s acting like a loner and breathing harder than the others. Plus, there’s a bone pushing against her skin, and her vent is off to the side, causing some messy situations. I’m also planning to post this on the other chicken sub. What do you all think?
Howdy all.
So as the title says, I have a chick with a 3rd leg growing out of its backside. Didn’t notice till I got her home and took them out individually to check. Lo and behold she had bad pasty butt and another malformed leg.
Idk what to do with her, if I should take her back to the store, cull her, or let her live.
She seemed social at first but now that I have her in the setup she is being a loner and breathing harder than the others. Her back has some kind of bone pushing on the skin and her vent is off to the side as a result and directly pooping onto the other leg.
Im also planning to post this on the other chicken sub.
What are you guys thoughts.?

- Chick acting strangeI’ve had these 4 chicks since Easter. They’ve all been acting normally, but this one (I think is a Cream Legbar) is drinking fine, but she’s not eating, and she’s standing upright and peeping nonstop. She’s drinking by herself though. She had pasty butt for about 2 days before I cleaned it. I thought she would act normal after that, but she’s been like this for another 2 days, even after I cleaned her butt. She also doesn’t react to my hand, she huddles up against me and peeps. At first I thought it was malnutrition, so I gave her some olive oil with a pipette about 20 hours ago since it’s got a fat and calories. She still acting weird. I’m not sure what to do. submitted by /u/Lil_Torta1 [link] [comments]

She’s happy and lets me hold her and manipulate her legs/wings with no issues… she’s eating and drinking and has consistently been laying-even today.
