First 2 hatches of my breeding project!
Our take
Cluck-tastic news from my breeding project! The first two hatchlings have arrived, and they decided to make their grand entrance at the same time—talk about synchronized hatching! These adorable little ones are a delightful mix of my Dark Brahma hen and Green-legged Hatch Game Fowl rooster, and I’m dubbing them "Game Brahmas." They bear a striking resemblance to their mom when she was a chick, but with their own unique flair. And while you can’t see it just yet, they have feathered feet and legs that give them an extra dash of charm. Plus, it looks like one of them might inherit my rooster’s fabulous muff! Stay tuned for more updates on these feathery wonders!

| These two literally hatched together at the same time lol. These two are a cross between my Dark Brahma hen and Green-legged Hatch Game Fowl rooster. I’m calling them “Game Brahmas”. They look kind of like their mom when she was a chick but also….not. And I know you can’t see but they have feathered feet/ legs! My roo also has a muff and it looks like one of them might! - Our new babies. Breeding project.Out of the 5 of our eggs we incubated, these are the three chicks. One never internally pipped and the other never externally pipped. I had to assist hatch one of these. Unfortunately didn’t catch the 4th in time. BUT! I present our 2 Game Brahma chicks and 1 Gameraucana! For those new here the mothers are a Dark Brahma and a Silver Ameraucana. The father is a green legged gamefowl and BOY are his genes strong because all 3 of these babies look pretty much the same! Only difference is the Game Brahma chicks have feathered legs and the Gameraucana doesn’t. Very cool! Can’t wait to see how they develop and look as they age! The Gameraucana is the one with the little leg band. submitted by /u/Safe_Letterhead543 [link] [comments]
- Update on the babiesUpdate on the babies dubbed the “Game Brahmas” and the solo “Gameraucana”. 5 & 6 days old. In the video first is the Game Brahma rooster, 6 days old. Followed by the Game Brahmas Hen also 6 days old. 2 layer of wing feathers and tail feathers already developing where the little roo (who hatched first) has less developed wing feathers and no signs of tail feathers yet. Both have feathered legs. Third we have the “Gameraucana” hen. Also has double layered wing feathers and tail feathers coming in. No feathered legs. All 3 have muffs/ beards and relatively the same markings so I’m going to say our Game Roo dad has some STRONG genes as they don’t look like their mothers when they were chicks. Can’t wait to see how they develope! submitted by /u/Safe_Letterhead543 [link] [comments]
- I’m currently working on a new breed(1st pic) I had a pure bred black and white polish and a silkie and this little fella came out. Really good feather structure and a coop, but most important his skull is normal. It takes a couple of generations to get what I’m looking for but this is a great start. (2’d pic) is a silkie x creamlegbar mix which doesn’t have the best colour pattern but her tail and wing feathers are transparent which I haven’t seen before. Lets hope it ain’t recessive and dissapears in later generations. Although the colour pattern is off, it still looks beautiful The others are Brahmas which I want to use to create a larger size polish breed submitted by /u/sparrio [link] [comments]
- Place your bets, mini roos-to-be or mini hens-to-be? 😁 An example of feather theory?Using feather theory, I'm guessing we've got two males and a female (female in the middle). The one I think could be female has significantly more developed feathers on wings and tail, despite being the littlest. I have found it hard to determine differences in shape of wing feathers though. The two smallest chicks are both f2 hybrid olive eggers and the bigger chick on the right is a silverudd s/marans cross. They were all born on the same day, and are currently 10 days old. Love to hear thoughts from those of you who are seasoned chick breeders, this is our first (but not last!) hatch. Thanks everyone! submitted by /u/teaandcakeforme [link] [comments]
