My first hatchlings from my first batch of chickens
Our take
| | This is just 😌 I also find it so intriguing that every batch is different. They all act so different, and I find myself caught in an ADHD moment all of the time just watching them. It brings me so much content just seeing how they are, and how they become when they mature out. I don’t even like birds.. but chickens are just so unique. I love this new hobby thing (whatever it is), very much. First batch was orders from Hoover’s via TS. Then I slowly accumulated others at TS when grabbing food and supplies (batch 2). Stupid neighbor dogs killed most of the first batch (heartbroken and angry), so I took their eggs and incubated them to continue them on. This is mostly from the first batch (except puffy cheeks, that’s #2). They’re just as goofy and tarded as the first batch ☺️. [link] [comments] |

- First hatch 🥰My babies have been LAYING like crazy since they started early last fall. So we decided to incubate some. Out of 8 we had 6 successful chickies and were super excited! I just wanted to share with people who love chickens as much as we do 🥰🥰🥰 first pics are our beautiful handsome man and his ladies, then their sweet sweet babies ❤️ not sure how we got so many different colored babies but super excited to hatch more! Had 2 all yellow, 1 yellow with brown chipmunk lines down the back, 2 greyish, and 1 multi-colored all over (yellow, goldfish, brown, black, like way multi-colored) they're growing quick and super strong and healthy like their parents ❤️🥰 submitted by /u/Consistent-Roof-4685 [link] [comments]
- Look one of my bantam’s laid her first egg!At the end of October last year my boyfriend rescued two Old English Bantam chicks. We had a flock that was dumped by their owner in our neighborhood. Every morning 6 chickens would be on our porch wanting food. Of course we started feeding them and it became routine for us to take care of them. Then one day my boyfriend saw one of the hens had two babies chicks running behind her. With them running free we knew those chicks were probably not going to make it against predators. So we took the babies in turned the shed into a coop with a run. And been having the best time watching them grow up. We even got them two more sisters! Yesterday bf was cleaning the nesting boxes and right when he opened one our girl Scoot Scoot was making the noises they make right before laying, however she got spooked and ran out. There was no egg. We decided to go eat and run around for alittle. When we got back I thought to myself go check the nesting boxes maybe she went back and sure enough she did! Being a first time chicken owner it was absolutely exciting and rewarding to see an egg for the first time. We put a lot of TLC into these chickens and now I feel like an official chicken mom! submitted by /u/United-Camel4560 [link] [comments]
- I’m finally one of you now 🥹My husband finally convinced me to get chickens. He built the coop/run, got the pen and heat lamp and food and wood shavings and everything else that goes along with getting chicks… and finally yesterday we took the plunge. We were only planning on getting 2 to start but the store had a 4-chick minimum so we got double what we planned for. I’m in love with these little babies but I’m also extremely nervous as a first time chicken owner!! PS my chihuahuas are absolutely obsessed with the chicks and are so gentle with them 🥹 submitted by /u/courtneyrel [link] [comments]
