My little babies are figuring out their wings!
Our take
Today was an egg-citing day for my little feathered friends as they took their first wobbly steps into the great outdoors! Watching my adorable flock flap their wings and explore their new surroundings was an absolute delight. I’m raising a delightful mix of ayam cemanis, black and white silkies, fleur d’uccles, a black copper maran, silver-laced Wyandottes, and a lavender Orpington. While I already have some fantastic layers in my coop, this time I’m all about adding a splash of ornamental charm to my yard. Each one of these quirky birds has its own personality, and I can’t wait to see how they grow and flourish—both in feathers and confidence! Join me on this cluck-tastic journey! 🩷

- New girls first day out the coop!To celebrate my 13 years of keeping chickens I got 4 new girls, they’ve been shut in for the past week just so they get used to their new home and now they are free to roam! They are named after mountains Light brahma: Zuggi short for Zugspitze Partridge: Laya (Himalaya) White cochin: Elby (Elbrus) And then Easter the buff brahma! - I'm so happy! But ...Fulfilled my dream of owning Bantam Cochins the day before yesterday. And while they are more cute as I imagined them to be (I know their feathers aren't the best, their living conditions weren't ideal, I hope some sunny days with dust baths will fix this quickly) they are kinda... Dumb? I watched them yesterday for a while and they don't seem to have a lot of braincells in their tiny heads. For example: One tried to jump upwards on a branch, failed miserably and lied on the grounds so long I thought it broke its back, just to then waddle away like nothing happened. Another one walked straight into a corner, stood there and then panicked because it couldn't find a way out.
