Chicks acting odd
Our take
Welcome to the whimsical world of chick antics! It sounds like your new feathered friends are already bringing a bit of quirky behavior to your life. When chicks act oddly while eating, it can be a combination of excitement and their natural instincts kicking in. Vocalizations can indicate they’re feeling comfortable and energetic, which is a good sign! However, if their behavior seems particularly unusual—like frantic pecking or odd postures—it might be worth investigating further. They could be trying to establish pecking order, reacting to their new environment, or simply enjoying their meal in their unique chick way. Let’s explore the delightful and sometimes baffling behaviors of your little ones to help you better understand their chick-tastic personalities!

| We just got a couple chicks, a couple days ago, and had noticed this odd behavior while eating, any insight into what could cause this? She has been vocal, and seems to have plenty of energy. [link] [comments] |

- Chick acting strangeI’ve had these 4 chicks since Easter. They’ve all been acting normally, but this one (I think is a Cream Legbar) is drinking fine, but she’s not eating, and she’s standing upright and peeping nonstop. She’s drinking by herself though. She had pasty butt for about 2 days before I cleaned it. I thought she would act normal after that, but she’s been like this for another 2 days, even after I cleaned her butt. She also doesn’t react to my hand, she huddles up against me and peeps. At first I thought it was malnutrition, so I gave her some olive oil with a pipette about 20 hours ago since it’s got a fat and calories. She still acting weird. I’m not sure what to do. submitted by /u/Lil_Torta1 [link] [comments]
- Something wrong or just a chill chick?Hi all! first time having chickens, we lost two earlier this week so I'm a bit stressed making sure they are all happy, I have one Plymouth Rock that just seems to act a bit different than the others. She's eating/drinking/pooping just fine but will often times go lay down directly under the heat lamp while the other ones run around. I have them on the same medicated feed they were on at the farm store and have chick boost in their water so I don't think it's anything nutritional but I don't want to lose another one. If I'm being dramatic please let me know! submitted by /u/BodaciousBea [link] [comments]
- Weird behaviorHello, I have a silkie that exhibits weird behavior since today, she’s never done anything like this before. She eats and drinks like usual but she loses her balance constantly. Anyone have an idea what this might be? submitted by /u/Arenshii [link] [comments]
